I've updated the calendar of assignments. Please be aware that we lost two A days (one to field day and one to a hiccup in the AISD schedule), and stay on top of your assignments. On that note, here's what the calendar has to say about Thanksgiving break:
1) Your Research Paper outline is due Dec. 2, the day that you return.
2) We will discuss the General Prologue of CT on Dec. 2—read that, be familiar with the characters. I will not quiz you on every trait of every character or anything like that, but you should have a good general idea of what happens.
3) We will discuss the Wife of Bath’s Prologue and Tale on Dec. 4. It is kind of long. You do not have to read it over break, but if you do not, plan for some reading on Dec. 2 or 3. If you DO read it over break, read it towards the end, so that you don’t forget what you read.
Thanks a lot, field day. I mean, exercise and fresh air are important for a healthy mind and body!
I've also updated the "assignments" section for the third six weeks.
We will be reading excerpts from The Canterbury Tales. By the end of the six weeks, you will be responsible for The General Prologue, The Wife of Bath's Prologue, The Wife of Bath's Tale, The Miller's Prologue, and The Miller's Tale. We only have a class set of books, and you will be responsible for some reading at home. Good news, then! The internet is full of really awesome Canterbury Tales sites. I've linked one (under the 3rd Six Weeks Documents and under the Links page). You can pull up Middle English, or Modern English, or both at the same time. You are only responsible for the modern English, but it's actually really fun to look at both simultaneously. Maybe give it a try.
Thanks. Stay frosty. (Aliens is still a thing, right?)
